Everything in Two's

It's been a pleasant Monday - which is always hard to fathom. Between discovering the painfully beautiful Lost promo from season 1 (expect to see the video here soon) & revamping the tumblelog I also came across two decadently good tracks - from The National & The Gaslight Anthem - two of my multitude of darling bands. Listen now. Thank me later.

In a sense/In essence/Innocence

The subliminal essence of days that pass me by are stuck like gum to my shoes.
Like taffy to my soul.
Like shadow to the minarets.

Digging a Ditch in Reverse

To begin with, things were pretty smudgy

And sludgy n' cold

Fugly racist man (old, white paranoid freak) was out walking his black dog - I twirled the shovel at 'em till they scooted the f**k away

The sun was defiantly beating at angles others than on or around my white war-zone

But I kept rocking that shovel

Till it was all good

The freaking End

The Lost Supper

Turns out my favorite TV shows have been employing depictions of The Last Supper to thumbnail the finale and outcomes of the show/characters.

With Sopranos, I was able to decipher the infamous final episode with the help of the first episode, when actually this painting (the last supper) appeared in the debut episode.

Battlestar with its reflective mythology and colossal character drives used this as well.

And now, in the same vein, Lost gives us The Lost Supper. And definitely along with it, a lot of hidden answers.

Last night...

The Attic Door

The proverbial attic door leads where? to matters of the heart or the heart of the matter... to the industrial mind, wallowing in the rust of the misery in refrain.

The attic door leads here... where the harsh skies bleed white & perceptions blur. How you wish you could reverse, erase or rewind till...

The attic door leads home.

Small Blue Things...

Two absolute apt & darling little ditties to warm up the icy sound-waves

Aboslute restrained blistering bouts of infectious indie sensibilities, a semi-epic clocking in at just above 7 minutes.

Fixing an eye on the hopeful/In a heartless room you'll be done soon
The snow is falling down/And the whole damn town is covered with white
It's obvious that trust is the catch and the magnet/ That could pull you through this braille night
Where nothing's free and you just can't see/How to sacrifice what you need to be

A
bout the female voice of the band: Elizabeth Mitchell is an American singer, composer, and guitarist for the New York indie band Ida[1]. While a student at Brown University, Mitchell performed as a duo with fellow class of 1990 classmate Lisa Loeb, called Liz and Lisa. Mitchell sang backup on Lisa Loeb's first hit, "Stay (I Missed You)", which topped the charts from the soundtrack to Reality Bites.
--------------------

And ofcourse Suzanne Vega's return to brilliance, her re-interpretations of classic dwindling eclectic folk brilliance... for people who have understood the evolution of alternative and viable AND the kiddies out there discovering the joy of indie, give this dittie a spin and grab the record.

I am cold against your skin
You are perfectly reflected

I am lost inside your pocket

I am lost against your fingers

I am falling down the stairs

I am skipping on the sidewalk

I am thrown against the sky

I am raining down in pieces

I am scattering like light…

From the official website www.suzannevega.com
Suzanne Vega reinterprets her best-loved songs in imaginative and intimate renderings The first of 4 CDs in Suzanne’s Close-Up Series. Vol. 1: Love Songs includes: "Marlene on the Wall," "Caramel," "Gypsy" and "Small Blue Thing."
"These are songs that I have written over the years and now re-recorded. I wanted to give you, the listener, a small sort of gift These are the songs I consider love songs, although they are also songs of attraction, flirtation, and confrontation. Thanks for listening."
With Love,
SUZANNE

The sepia toned longing...

Watching the whites come down...

Point Pleasant Beach, NJ,  is in the eye of a snow storm with blizzard warnings, mega-winter storm alerts & what not. Feh. What better time to lapse-slap the snow. around and what not... Watch this space for updates as the snow will surely pile up to supposed colossal amounts. Or go get a life...

The Invisible Eye

In a hole far away in a daydream of desperate indecision
In a war of a world gone mad growing all out of its precision

Delocations of the Dislocated

Possibly the most demented, devious and dark thoughts brood from the sunniest of days... like a head-gash off'a thick and dry tree bark with all its echoing glories of splinters and winters gone by. And the misery thus seeks company and finds a corner bar by the wayside. Or the Ark. Point Pleasant Beach is pretty but ain't that endearing.
