Of outlaw cowboy bands & busking in twilight.... Dye Corduroy's new track in audio equivalent of technicolor

Well, its that time again when I lay down my arms & surrender another track into the stratosphere of mp3-hugging aficionados. I refuse to comment on the sentiment in the song as I believe that the artwork blatantly encompasses all. So here it is, give it a spin and see if YOU can somehow factor in:

Dye Corduroy - Twilight Busker

Lyrics: Twilight Busker off of the upcoming record "The Humming Vertigo"

i don't want to listen;
i just wanna get through

i dont have directions;
but i know i have to get away from you;
you don't make me feel too good

i don't busk in twilight;

but its best i do
and i don't have a torchlight;
but they never come they're never here;
i just wanna disappear

and i don't;
don't have much time
gotta get get gotta get get gotta get you;
out of my mind
you know i bleed; bleed through the days
and what i need;
just slips away

i don't have religion

i just have a clue

i don't have a vision but i know i have to find a way from you
you don't make me feel too good

i don't write love songs

i write fiction that is true
i don't see the future but these words in songs help me veneer
everything i have to fear

i need sometime to think around

how to pick my trembling heart off the ground

the letters you sent

the hurt you never meant

or so i'd so believe;
i found
what comes after you
i've found what comes after you

The Last Ten

So I had waited patiently for the last ten episodes of Battlestar Galactica to unravel - & yesterday I started watching them. The episode back from the hiatus was truly brilliant - with a dark monkey on its back throughout. I kinda knew Dualla was going to blow he head off... there is this one scene when she comes back to the landed crafts on the wrecked earth... I thought she was going to pull her gun and do it right there.

Interesting discovery: In the 1978 original Battlestar Galactica - there was a character named... yes... Dr. Salik.

Jeez.

So I've seen two of the last ten. I'm going steady 'coz I don't really want it to end. But it has ended. Can't help imagining how much props they had to auction. I think they sold them in Pasadena.

Oh well.

Discreet Criminals

In the beginning of any conversation, or song, or journey, or phone-call, or visit; there always is this moment that crystallizes away from all subsequent ones. The one laden with the sensual weight of both hesitation & haste... where you know what comes next will carry gravity enough to centrifuge your self. Or the other.

That moment is universal & shared & whored, yet is personal, private & indiscriminately intimate. Like the back-board of your closet against which you press your secrets. Covered by the barrage of fabric twisted and turned intricate by collapsing blows of discreet criminality. The one that peers through all of our souls, and gazes endlessly out of your offending eyes.

That moment is what I try to marinate my words & songs into.

Fin.

p.s. trying out the new mp3 player i embedded. These tracks remain on heavy rotation in my car these days:
The Stills - Everything I Build
Jack's Mannequin - Cell Phone
Sparkadia - Too Much To Do

Dye Corduroy's Latest Offering - Kiya Tum Ho Wohee

The latest Dye Corduroy track is all set and raring to burn holes in your iPods and ears. Beware: The chorus can stick to you like taffy on a hot wet Wednesday.

Its called "Kiya Tum Ho Wohee" & contrary to the obvious its not a lament, it's not about love and all your gooey gremlins, its about alienation of self, friends, people and civilization. Hence the lack of recognition and the query - kiya tum ho wohee?

Reservoir of the Uncanny

It is that time of the year again where I take my band Dye Corduroy out for a walk on the surface. Comfortable perched in the the Atlantis of indie-rock, it remains the secret that I rarely share. However, with only 589 odd songs left to record & time turning turtle, I am tempted again to throw the brilliance on to your satellite.

The Reservoir of Dye Corduroy songs - (this will be regularly updated as there are only 60 odd mp3s left to be uploaded)

Incessant Catching Up

*Pets Blog*

I've been away. From the blog. Not from the place or state I am in. What all happened? I ran over a squirrel, the country plunged into further political bastardization amidst a tiny ray of hope, we endured a tosser-kid at a wedding, I wrote more brilliant songs, Sab Jhoot Hai - the urdu-rocker cracks into emails tomorrow, Kathleen Edwards, Glen Hasnard & REM on the soundwaves.

And of course... I got into Battlestar Galactica. Frakkin' awesome.

So more sounds & ephemeral views soon.

Very soon.

post-traumatic/rebuilding

With bonds that were bound in felicity, to travels that were spun in gold sunsets & crystalline gossamers of delight. To the sound of the world exploding. Til' the last beat of the last savior. This is the part where you rebuild... with no motives & and no inspiration. This is the stone on which you bleed your strokes of genius to no avail and to no premise. Ambling. Waving. Wavering. Vanishing.

The democratic war-horse is now inside the veins of the vain. The militant pig is on the loose.

Rudd-er

Films last seen I Could Never be Your Woman
Caligula

Shows i'm watching

Entourage season 4
ATHF Season 1
O.C. Season 4 (probably at the rate of one episode per WEEK)

I managed to get my hands on some uber kool documentaries. The BBC series What the ancients did is very engaging, especially the Islam episode. I didn't know we made perfume, camera obscuras (the box not the band), petrol & diesel (via DISTILLATION), wind energy and what not. We rock. Pining to watch the Lost Civilization documentaries and the Egypt docus. Num num.

Interesting finding of the day: I saw Lost season 3 a WHILE back so every episode is not crystal clear now. I don't commit every single thing to memory like I did (had to do) with Sopranos. Anywho: I was reading Tim Goodman's Bastard Machine and the comments section to the post about Lost 301 as it came back from the infamous 4 toed statue/Sayid praying on boat/head-masked Jack/Kate/Sawyer. I didn't realize 'Tom' is gay. Check this hilarious comment out:

-- Oh and Tom "Your not my type, Kate" the Other has to be the gay character the producers have been hinting at. I hope LOST doesn't go all "Brokeback Vito" on us like 'The Sopranos' did. --

Heh. Brokeback Vito. OFcourse all you Sopranos-nay-sayers won't get this. If you have not seen Sopranos you shouldn’t even BE on this blog site reading this. GIT. MUSH.

I HAVE to have the entire season in hand for me to start watching a show. I stareted watching heroes on a 7 dvd box set - my friend had to borrow the last disc. Since then I have been stuck on 3 episodes although I know i can only watch 2 epis a night - max 3. Especially with the second job starting up for round 2 of dual suckage/butpaysmoney/sucksthelifeouttame. So now that I have Entourage season 4, since the finale aired on Sept 2nd.- I shall proceed to devour it. I saw the first two episodes last night and they were smashingly good albeit there was a severe lackage of Ari Gold screen time. Piven is REAALLLY good. (Please notice the randomness of the paragraph i just yapped)

Which brings me to the point - when will Hollywood recognize the gynormous talent that Paul Rudd is? His adlib and his one liners and his references and his acting - ARGH - come on already. After Diggers, I Could Never Be Your Woman really shows what a talent he is. P.S. This is not a chick flick - just a general feel good movie and Rudd makes the movie. He's funny as eff. Who cares about Pfeiffer. Feh. People: Rudd has arrived. Open your eyes already, its been 11 years.

I have finally figured out the Sopranos ending. I will make you wait for at least as long as I went nerve-wrecked-crazy figuring it out. Away with you.

The Power of Chawal-Masr

You guys I'm seriously... i think chawal-masr may be my favorite food of all time. Of course add a couple (6) chicken nuggets or kebabs and lemon. Dang nammit. Gentlemen! Behold! (Aqua Teen Hunger Force reference). Aliph pointed out so many times; his general wondering if people got my humor so I have decided to add references and footnotes in parenthesis. Sic. (this whole dialogue was although not fabricated but was actually a hit at your low intellect or lack of it thereof)

So i wrote this silly poem today:

Silly Poem

Do you think the clouds have faces?
Shaped like memories and roadsides you once walked by
They would then look down on these places
And wash the pain with water from the sky
Do you think you have won this skirmish?
The sun shone off your guile and caught my eye
I knew the shame in this summer would never finish
How when i would wake you, you'd start to cry

The counting backwards from 10 to one
The odds were stuck in our sides like a radio song
The chords of which are played for fun
But words of which like knives twist on and on

ANYWHO: The pin'ata of love overflows today. the goodie bag is bursting open. The num-nums have landed. You're ungrateful but i need you so i'll love you and i'll feed you. (Ramble sarcasm humor intended)

I have spent 2 years searching for this album (as a free ingratitude mp3 down of course). As an angst(pseudo) filled 18 year old I lufffffffed Tracy Bonham's The Burdens of Being Upright - I thought it was smashingly good. This third offering weds her velvety voice tone with beautiful acoustic melodies and lush orchestrations. Hubba hubba.

Blink the Brightest is the third album by American singer/songwriter Tracy Bonham. It was released on June 21, 2005.

The second offering holds the REM cover song Wall of Death which was one of the first songs I discovered the magic of harmonies and acuestick bliss (used to play it in 1997-1999 with Omer Waziri who incidentally moved to Australia and lost COMPLETE touch - if you read this Omer Waziri: GET THE F**K IN TOUCH).

Twisted Soliloquies

Enigmatic antagonist. Sociopathic wallflower. Discontent and the gummy remains of your chewed soul. Anti-heroes. The fog of war. The slim of your waste. The shape of your face. Low grade pyrotechnics in your quiver. The shiver in your arms. warmth of your legs. Dying by the sword. Living like a feather. Push the pedal. Pull the pin. Ambiguity trumps certainty.

And the pain of my absence; let it be balmed by the uncanny sense of humor. The excerpts from my ramblings today:
